Eoghan McDermott has been replaced by Stephen Mullan as narrator on the popular reality TV show. This comes following his departure from RTÉ 2fm and as host of Junior Eurovision. Sophie Monk returns as host with comedian Stephen Mullan taking over from Eoghan McDermott. Love Island Australia is an ITV production for Channel 9, it will air later in the year in Ireland on Virgin Media TWO.

Louise Cantillon is the new face of Junior Eurovision in Ireland. The series was hosted by former RTÉ 2FM DJ Eoghan McDermott from 2015 until 2019. This marks the return of Ireland to the competition following a decision to withdraw in 2020 due to COVID restrictions. Adare Productions continue as producer of the show. Ireland has been represented at the competition since 2015, when Aimee Banks represented Ireland with Réalta na Mara, Ireland\'s last entry was in 2019 with Anna Kearney\'s Banshee. The Irish leg of the contest was film in May.

RTÉ have announced that they will cease the transmission of Digital Audio Broadcasting on the 31st of March, 2021. As part of RTÉ\'s 2020 to 2024 strategic review they had planned to also drop their Digital Radio Stations, however RTÉ failed to put a submission into the Department of Media to have the stations dropped, those station will remain broadcasting on TV, on Saorview and Virgin Media. This comes 15 months after the publication of their strategic review.

RTÉ Annual Report for 2018 was announced yesterday. RTE spend at total of €24,728,000 and made a loss of €13million. RTÉ have stated that the special event costing €7.2million was in some way responsible for the loss rather than the extravagant use of money toward imported programming.
